Does anybody else think this is a problem?
Dropsuit scan radius: 10 meters
Minimap radius: 100 meters
Interpretation: The edge of the minimap does not reflect the scan radius of your dropsuit. Dropsuit scan radius is only a tiny area in the center reticle.
Problem: Can't see jack that is happening near the center of the minimap, but that is the most critical information.
Resolution: Create enlarged view of tacnet screen.

No, if you read the posts, I am asking to be able to toggle the minimap to full screen. It doesn't change any attributes of dropsuit scan ranges, just makes the view bigger so we can see what is goin on.

Reav Hannari wrote:If the range of the mini-map changes based on which suit I'm currently wearing it will cause confusion. I'd prefer to keep it a fixed range so range estimation is easier.
The mini-map also displays actively painted targets from myself and my squad mates so the larger range is preferred.
If anything I'd say make sure all red dots are prioritized and stacked on top of anything blue. Right now it seems some are buried underneath and are difficult to see.
I am not asking to change the range. I just want to be able to toggle the minimap to a full screen view so that I can see what is going on near my merc.

Many people think that the edge of the minimap is the edge of the dropsuit scan radius. That belief is false.

Dropsuit scan could be more effective if we could actually see the area around our merc on the scanner. Right now it's just so small that it is useless. My request is to be able to toggle the minimap to a full screen view.

Yes and if the dots were rendered in the same size and the map were enlarged, then it would prevent the problem of aliasing near the center, where currently I can't tell what is going on.

That's why I recommend the ability to toggle between a small minimap and a large overlay. Everyone can pick the one that suits their taste

Yes, it should be a optional view. I was thinking that I would want to be able to toggle between the minimap and the large view during battle depending on the situation I'm in. For instance, while I'm hacking a CRU, it would be nice to see if someone just appeared in the nearby proximity, exposed within the constraints of my dropsuit scan range and precision of course. I can think of many other situations where I'd like the enlarged view. In open terrain, I'd toggle back to the minimap.

Passive on all suits except scouts is supposed to be crappy compared to active. ...
I would like to rely heavily on my passive scanner, since I am constantly having to quickly look 360 to see if anyone is sneaking up on me and I may miss something. In my opinion, the scan abilities of the suits are pathetic. It's not like we have peripheral vision.
Why can they fit a 45db scanner on a scout, but not on a heavy? I understand it as part of the game design, but completely illogical. If you can fit a component on an ultralight suit, then you can put it on a heavy suit.
Why do active scans only get piped out to the squad level and not the team level? ... part of the game design (desired by the community?WTF), but completely illogical. Information wins battles. Any dumbnard knows this.
Why build a scanning device that cannot detect enemies as far as their weapon range? ... part of the design, but completely illogical. Thermographics are capable of taking measurements from hundreds of meters away.
However, the point of my request is to maximize the efficacy of the little information that we do have available. Hence, I want an optional enlarged view of the minimap
